Today I will be addressing the stereotypes of the Beta chapter of Alpha Beta Psi. Alpha Beta Psi, best known as ABY, was founded on Longwood’s campus on April 22, 2014.
I would like to reiterate that the purpose of this blog is to address the stereotype of Alpha Beta Psi. This is NOT my opinion.
Stereotype: Strong Sisterhood and Unique
Alpha Beta Psi is one of the most underrated sororities on Longwood's campus. Although they do not have a nationals, they are still a part of the College Panhellenic Council. Megan Leahy, junior in ABY, says that "some students don't realize that we are still a sorority no matter if we have nationals or not. We are each unique in every way."
Each sister has a unique personality which highlights their great sisterhood. No two sisters are the same, but yet they still come together and support one another for their differences. Megan explains how ABY stood out to her because of how small they are and how individually unique each sister is. She was excited and did not want to follow the judgments of what other people could have said about them.
They strive to maintain a strong relationship with Longwood and promote good relations in the Farmville community. Many sisters are involved on campus despite the small size of their chapter. They respect one another and continue to grow as a chapter. Finally joining CPC formal recruitment this past Spring, their sisterhood continues to expand and showcase to the Longwood community how they truly care for one another.
Next week I will discussing Formal Recruitment. Recruitment is one of my favorite experiences of Greek Life. I will be taking opinions from CPC sorority members on what to think when going through Formal Recruitment.
